Waves on Main: Offering a Menu that Brings Sunshine to Any Day

BELMAR, NJ — Regardless of the weather, there always is something on Waves on Main’s menu to brighten your day.

The restaurant specializes in contemporary coastal American cuisine, placing the spotlight on its full assortment of steak and seafood entrees, with a wide selection of burgers, salads and small plate offerings.

 “Don’t let the weather get in the way of a good meal. Lou is always cooking up with something special in the kitchen,” said Kathy Farese, referring to her husband and chef — both of whom operated the landmark restaurant at the corner of Main Street and 10th Avenue. “The best part of our job is making sure our guests leave with smiles on their faces after a nice relaxing time at Waves.”

While preparing each meal to order, Lou prefers to use locally sourced ingredients that include Jersey Fresh produce, and fish, scallops and other seafood pulled from the waters off the coast. In fact, he visits the local fishing boats on a regular basis to bring back the best catches of the day to add even more freshness to his menu.

A menu favorite is “Steak and Cake,” a 12-ounce, hand-cut New York strip steak with a plentiful homemade crabcake served with specially prepared cocktail and sriracha sauce.

On the appetizer side, crispy calamari, drunken clams and garlic shrimp are tasty preludes to dinner.

New to the dessert menu are homemade confections from Deescakes of Freehold, a family-owned business that’s known for making the “creamiest cheesecake.” But that’s not all you’ll find Seannee Harris baking in her kitchen. She has been taught by her mom, “Dee” Williams, and has been busy making Deecakes a household name for 10 years.

“Seannee is a very talented chef and is preparing desserts just for us,” said Kathy Farese. “From fresh key lime and strawberry tarts to butter rum cake and cheesecake, everything is made with natural ingredients from mom’s recipes.”

Located at 1000 Main Street on the corner of 10th Avenue, Waves on Main is open Tuesday through Friday for lunch and dinner, and Saturday and Sunday, for brunch, lunch and dinner.
