BELMAR, NJ — It’s down to the finishing touches on the mural under creation by participants in this summer’s Youth Art Workshop at the Belmar Public Library.
For the past four weeks, the young muralists have been working on their signature piece, aptly titled “Belmar ♥s Books,” featuring a colorful beach scene with characters from their favorite books playing on the sand, in the surf and some even in the sky.
The youngsters have two more sessions — Thursday, August 15 and August 22 — before the work of art is unveiled at an August 29 reception at the library. It will then be permanently displayed within the Belmar Public Library community.
“We will continue to add details over the next week, followed by signatures and a clear coat of sealant over the entire painting,” said art instructor Dawn Lisko, who has been orchestrating the ambitious creative endeavor.
All children who have helped in any way on the mural are asked to attend this Thursday’s session at 4 p.m. at the library to sign the piece, she said. The library is located at 517 10th Avenue on the corner of E Street.
