Move for Jackie!: A Beach Cleanup Fundraiser by #Move4Belmar

Here's an opportunity to clean up your favorite Belmar beach and have a donation made on your behalf to the GoFundMe campaign to support 13-year-old Jackie Minchala in her fight against advanced cancer.

#Move4Belmar — a grassroots group of volunteers that led beach cleanups every Monday along the Belmar oceanfront this summer — is inviting anyone to conduct a one-hour cleanup at their Belmar beach of choice at any time through September 30. It will then donate $10 for each of the first 50 persons who complete the task — and show proof with a photo posted to Facebook or Instagram.

The event is being held during International Coastal Cleanup Month, an initiative of the Surfrider Foundation under its Solo Beach Cleanups effort.

The Move for Jackie! beach cleanup campaign is the latest way the community is reaching out to support Jackie, who was diagnosed this summer with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. The Belmar Elementary School eighth-grader is currently undergoing chemotherapy for the disease, which is inoperarble and has spread to several areas of her body.

To help pay for medical costs not covered by insurance, her family has set up a GoFundMe page, which has already brought in nearly 73,000 toward its $100,000 goal.
