BELMAR, NJ — With three weeks of work complete, the Belmar Public Library’s Youth Art Workshop project is getting personal — with the young muralists adding their favorite book characters into the beach-themed group painting.
And they will continue with that task today, August 8, as their signature work is beginning to bring into focus their collective creativity and imagination. The seven-week summer project is the brainchild of art instructor Dawn Lisko, who has been guiding the youngsters in the ambitious artistic endeavor.
Children age 8 and older are invited to join in the workshop, which will be held at 4 p.m. at the library, located at 517 10th Avenue on the corner of E Street. Three more weeks remain before the mural is unveiled at an August 29 reception. It will then be permanently displayed within the Belmar Public Library community.
And one major decision still needs to be made: Selecting a slogan for the airplane banner that is flying high in the mural’s bright blue sky.
