BELMAR, NJ — Belmar’s recreation gymnasium is a hub of activity every Wednesday and Saturday for elementary school students.

From 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., open gym featuring basketball, dodgeball and indoor soccer is held every Wednesday for third- to fifth-graders. The sessions are open to students from Belmar Elementary School (both Belmar and Lake Como residents) and St. Rose Grammar School.

All parents must complete a waiver program prior to participation in the program, which will run weekly through Wednesday, February 27. In addition, parents are responsible for transportation to and from the gym.

Belmar Youth Club continues every Saturday evening through March 23, providing youngsters with the opportunity to participate in free play and organized games in a structured, safe, chaperoned environment.

Open to Belmar Elementary School and St. Rose Grammar School students, the club is held in two different sessions, based on age:

-- For third- to fifth-graders from 5 to 7 p.m.

-- For sixth- to eighth-graders from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

There is a $25 fee per child that is required upon registration, which can be made online by clicking here.

The recreation gym is located at the Belmar Municipal Building, 601 Main Street, Belmar.
