LAKE COMO, NJ — Now is the time for vendors and sponsors to sign up for the 24th annual Lake Como Day, to be held on September 28 along the scenic banks of the borough’s namesake lake.
The Lake Como Tourism Commission is putting out the call for businesses and individuals to help celebrate the borough’s marque event, which features an afternoon of festivities that culminates with fireworks bursting over the lake at dusk. From 4 to 9 p.m., a wide array of attractions for the entire family will be situated along North Boulevard. Rain date is Sunday, September 29.
“It is a great event for local and nonlocal vendors to showcase their goods and services for our town,” said Frankie Jones, chair of the commission’s Lake Como Day Planning Committee. “We welcome all types of vendors, especially food trucks, artists, new businesses and more.”
Children will enjoy a host of activities, including free face painting, inflatables that include a super-slide and bouncy house, and fire truck rides.
A beer and wine tent will once again be set up alone the lakefront, as The Get Down Committee, formerly Fatback, will be getting the crowd moving with three sets of dance music — from funk and soul to Motown and Top 40 — for all ages.
The committee is also looking for event sponsors not only for specially made Lake Como Day shirts, but to help cover costs of the children’s activities.
And for the first time — as a way of giving back to the community — the event committee will establish a sponsorship-supported scholarship fund that will benefit a college-bound Lake Como resident graduating from high school.
