BELMAR, NJ — Beach Haus Brewery made quite an impressive showing at the recent Atlantic City Beer and Music Fest, taking home awards for two of its newest brews.

Its Free World Pale Ale captured first place in the American Pale Ale category and “We Were Made For Peach Other” Milkshake IPA came in second among New England IPAs at the 14th annual festival.

Belmar’s own landmark craft brewery was competing among more than 150 breweries serving up 600 beers in 14 different categories at the “Celebration of the Suds” — one of the largest annual events of its kind along the East Coast.

Beach Haus’ lead brewer Matt Pipkin was joined by brewing team members Dylan Kohan and Logan Smith at the three-day festival, where some 26,000 people sampled beers and enjoyed a full line-up of entertainment at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

And when they learned Belmar’s own landmark brewery took two awards in the highly regarded competition, it was time to celebrate. “We were certainly psyched and happy that two of our newest brews were selected among best of hundreds of beers,” Pipkin said. “When coming up with new beers, we are always looking at emerging trends in craft brewing and feedback we receive from patrons during our weekly Friday Night Test Dept.™ releases. These awards show we are doing it right.”

For brew aficionados, here’s a look each award-winning beer:

“We Were Made For Peach Other” is Beach Haus’ first milkshake IPA (India pale ale), made with peaches, vanilla and lactose. Simcoe, nugget, citra and azacca hops are used in the boil, whirlpool and dry hopping. It has a nice golden hazy appearance that picks up a little bit of orange color from the peach purée.

Free World Pale Ale is a modern update to an American classic, made from Columbus hops that are used for bittering with cascade, citra and mosaic hops used for aroma. Dry hopped with cascade, citra and mosaic, it is golden in color and unfiltered, giving it a slight haze.
