With Thanksgiving the biggest holiday for pie lovers, The Macaroon Shop offers fruit pies —apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, strawberry rhubarb, coconut custard, mince, pecan, and pumpkin pies — in three sizes: 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch. Three choices of top crust are available on fruit pies: regular, crumb or lattice-style.

One-sized pies are fresh banana cream, chocolate cream with chocolate shavings and coconut cream topped with toasted coconut. In addition, there are real key lime pies and key lime tarts, and lemon meringue pies.

Beyond pies, The Macaroon Shop’s specialty cakes make for delightful Thanksgiving centerpieces, including its famous turkey cake, which resembles a roasted turkey with all the trimmings, but is a giant layer cake with homemade buttercream and fudge fillings. Equally as impressive is its colorful cornucopia cake, as well as classic turkey-style layer cakes.

Whether you’re ordering dessert for your own Thanksgiving feast or bringing them to a relative or friend’s home, there’s plenty more to choose from at The Macaroon Shop, including giant platters of its signature coconut and almond macaroons, which come plain and covered in chocolate. For nearly nine decades, the shop has been using old-world recipes to make these chewy delights exactly the same way — using the same ingredients — since 1930. And they are gluten-free.

There also are stacks of sprinkled sugar cookies, festive cupcakes and walnut rolls that when they are sliced, buttered and warmed are pure decadence.

The Macaroon Shop, located just over the Main Street bridge from Belmar, is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. For more information, call 732-776-6363, visit its website, or follow it on Facebook or Instagram.
