The Belmar Food Pantry/Clothes Closet, located at 503 Seventh Avenue, is open from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday.
BELMAR, NJ — Although September’s observance of Hunger Action Month has come to an end, the Belmar Food Pantry always welcomes contributions to keep its shelves stocked for those in need of a nutritious meal.
Currently, its team of volunteers is looking for donations of the following items:
- Macaroni and cheese
- Peanut butter
- Tomato sauce (like Ragu)
- Canned fruit
- Toilet paper
Located at the Belmar Community Center at 503 Seventh Avenue, the pantry is among 300 affiliated pantries of Fulfill of Monmouth and Ocean — a designation that its team of volunteers takes seriously, as it ensures that bags of groceries assembled for distribution meet the Neptune-based food bank’s nutritional standards.
During Hunger Action Month, Fulfill has been embarking on a public awareness campaign to bring the fight against hunger in both counties to the forefront.
Each year, Fulfill provides food and other resources for more than 136,000 individuals who do not have enough food to lead a healthy and active life — or, in other words, are “food insecure.” In addition, two of every five persons served through Fulfill’s network of food pantries and other community feeding programs are children.
The Belmar Food Pantry/Clothes Closet is open from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday.
