LAKE COMO, NJ — John Carvelli has resigned from the Lake Como Council due to his move to Wall Township.
After his letter of resignation was read into the record at the council’s August 6 meeting, Mayor Kevin Higgins thanked him for his service to the borough. "He will be sorely missed," he added.
Carvelli was elected to the council in 2014 after being appointed in 2013 to fill a vacancy created when Councilman Jared Cohen resigned because of his move to Belmar. Carvelli, an attorney, won re-election to the three-year post in 2017.
With his departure, the all-Democratic council will now choose his replacement from a pool of three individuals to be selected for consideration by Lake Como Democratic Municipal Chairman and former Mayor Michael Ryan.
