LAKE COMO, NJ — Lake Como’s seasonal traffic flow plan took effect on May 15, as summer renters will be permitted to begin moving in on Friday, May 22.
In light of the current state of emergency due to the coronavirus crisis, seasonal residents will be required to follow all rules for social distancing and gatherings, according to Mayor Kevin Higgins.
In addition, they must adhere to current emergency parking regulations that restrict on-street parking to residents only — with the placement of borough-issued stickers on their vehicles. Parking remains prohibited on North Boulevard in Lake Como, as well.
Under the seasonal traffic flow plan:
- Both 17th Avenue and New Bedford Road is one-way westbound toward Main Street.
- Parking on 18th Avenue is prohibited on the south side of the street from Main Street to New Bedford Road every weekend — from 6 p.m. on Friday through Sunday until 6 p.m.
- A two-way stop is placed at 17th Avenue and White Street to slow down traffic at that intersection.
The changes, which will remain in effect until September 15, are aimed at relieving congestion and increasing safety on the borough’s busiest streets during the prime summer season.
Residents are being asked to be alert to the traffic flow and parking changes — and to be mindful that cars parked on the south side of 18th Avenue on the weekend are subject to being ticketed and towed.
