ISELIN, NJ — Belmar is well-represented on EY’s just-released list of the 2019 Entrepreneurs of the Year in New Jersey.
Jenny Zhu Cohen of Belmar, founder and CEO of Triangle Home Fashions, and Abby Taylor and Rob Giuliani, founders of Belmar-based Playa Bowls, were among 11 recipients of the prestigious honor that recognizes “entrepreneurial leaders who are transforming the world,” according to EY, which unveiled the statewide winners during an awards ceremony on June 20 at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick.
“There are many successful entrepreneurs in this world, but to build something truly remarkable, you can't let anything stand in your way,” said Debra von Storch, EY Americas Entrepreneur of the Year program director. “EY is proud to honor the 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year winners who are inspiring innovation without limitation, and fueling growth and prosperity by being truly unstoppable.”
Since Cohen founded Triangle Home Fashions in 2008, the South Brunswick-based company has grown to become a leading designer, marketer and distributor of home textiles to e-commerce and brick-and-mortar retailers in the United States. It produces fashion bedding, window coverings, shower curtains, decorative pillows and outdoor cushions.
“Over the last 10 years, the Triangle team has worked by my side, chasing dreams with me. You are my inspiration and my strength. It’s you that make me unstoppable,” Cohen said in accepting the award. “To the boys and girls out there, if you have a dream, no matter where you come from, no matter how big the dream. If you work really hard, have passion, stay focused and never give up, everything is possible.”
Five years ago, Playa Bowls’ Taylor and Giuliani opened a pop-up stand along Belmar’s Ocean Avenue, introducing beachgoers to “the acai bowl”— a fruit-filled creation inspired by their trips to surfing destinations along the West Coast and in South America.
And they have not looked back since. Playa Bowls has experienced a meteoric rise to success, expanding to more than 65 locations on the East Coast and just recently opening a shop in Wilmington, N.C. — its first in that state.
