BELMAR, NJ — Before Hurricane Dorian scurried away from the Jersey Shore coastline, photograph Paul Spennrath captured these photos of the storm’s strength yesterday along the Belmar oceanfront.

The unidentified photographer in several of the photos taken on September 6 provides a perspective of the size of the waves that crashed onto the beach between First and Second Avenues.

The sun returns to the skies today, September 7 — the start of a picture-perfect weekend for the end of summer, except for swimming in the ocean. There is a high risk of strong rip tides, making the surf dangerous for all levels of swimmers, according to the National Weather Service.
