HOLMDEL, NJ — A 41-year-old Woodbridge man has been charged with drunken driving after his vehicle fatally struck John Carroll of Belmar who was standing outside his car on the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway in Holmdel on September 18, according to New Jersey State Police.
Pedro Carlo of the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated after his Jeep entered the right shoulder on the parkway's southbound local side, near milepost 115.9, at about 10 p.m. and struck Carroll, 60, and his unoccupied Cadillac, police said.
Carroll died as the result of his injuries. Carlo was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation, police said.
