This is the second in a series of special features on the food tour and tasting, taking a look at six participating eateries in downtown Belmar’s northern end.

Sweet Tease Tea Room and Café, 604 Main Street

Delight in the charming atmosphere of Sweet Tease Tea Room and Cafe, where people “gather and indulge” for breakfast, lunch and tea. Owner Kate Walters, in video below, pays attention to every detail in her warm and inviting eatery, where teas from around the world are poured and quiche, tea sandwiches, croissants and other sweet treats are baked daily in its own kitchen.

Klein’s Fish Market & Waterside Café, 708 River Road

Klein’s is a family-run restaurant that has made its mark on Belmar’s dining scene for 90 years. Beginning as a small fish market at its current location, it has grown into a landmark destination that boasts dockside dining — indoors or outdoors — along the scenic Shark River. After enjoying a fresh seafood dish for lunch, dinner or a meal in-between, most people don’t go home empty-handed. They make a stop at Klein’s iconic fish market, bringing back home a bit of the Jersey Shore.

Doughboys Wood-Fired Pizza & Restaurant, 507 Main Street

No matter how you prefer your pizza — wood-fired with thin crust that puffs around the edges or the more traditional in style — Doughboys is recognized for serving the best in both, delivered right from its brick oven. It also packs a menu big on appetizers, pasta dishes, classic Italian entrees, salads and all sorts of sandwiches.

Main Street Donuts, 705 Main Street

Since opening two years ago, Main Street Donuts has taken doughnut decorating to new heights of creativity. Its artisanal doughnuts are made on premise, then handcrafted to order with customers choosing from a full assortment of toppings to make the deep-fried sweet treat their own. It also offers a wide selection of blackboard specials, which will be offered as samples during the restaurant tour.

Anchor Tavern, 715 Main Street

Easily recognized by its large outdoor patio dining area, Anchor Tavern is located on the corner of Main Street and Eighth Avenue. The establishment boasts a menu that bursts in flavor, featuring its signature wood-fired rotisserie chicken, ribs, burgers and sandwiches. There’s a full late-night menu, live weekend entertainment and, for sports fans, televisions visible from every seat of the house.

Stay Gold Café & Lounge, 800 Main Street

Stay Gold Cafe & Lounge’s casual, local vibe has been attracting patrons since its doors at the corner of Main Street and Eighth Avenue opened in 2013. The menu is rich in fresh and healthy offerings for breakfast, lunch or a light dinner, including sandwiches, salads, tapas and sharing plates. A bounty of beverages features gourmet coffees, specialty coffee beverages, house-crafted natural juices and smoothies.
