BELMAR, NJ — “Come for the workout, stay for the people.” That sense of community certainly was evident at Birch Fitness during its recent grand opening celebration in Belmar Plaza.

The fitness center welcomed the public on January 18 to its new home at 809 Belmar Plaza, situated between Jersey Shore BBQ and Hoagitos in the downtown's bustling shopping center.

During the opening, Birch Fitness owners Lizi Hillman and Bryan Shamey were quick to answer questions not only about the workout equipment and classes, but about their philosophy of fitness: to challenge its members mentally and physically in new and exciting ways with each class.

Also marking the event was an official ribbon-cutting by Belmar Mayor Mark Walsifer, who was accompanied by Belmar Business Partnership trustees Christine Cardellino and Joseph Rizzuto.

Birch Fitness offers small group classes in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment, where coaching is hands-on and safety is a top priority, according to the center.

Workouts vary in exercise type, duration and equipment, offering a different workout session each time — “where difficulty increases as you improve, so you never get bored.”
