BELMAR, NJ — A swell of people, stretching blocks along Belmar's boardwalk, turned out to buy seasonal beach badges on the first day of sales at Taylor Pavilion.

Advance badge sales will continue daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days of week, as beaches will officially open on Memorial Day weekend — under capacity and social distancing restrictions that will be put in place by the borough under Gov. Phil Murphy’s directive on May 14.

The per-badge cost is $70 for persons between age 16 and 64, $30 for seniors age 65 and older with proof of age and $30 for disabled individuals with proper identification (click here). Payment can be made by cash or checks only.

The pavilion is located along the boardwalk at 500 Ocean Avenue. Social distancing must be practiced and wearing a mask is encouraged when tickets are purchased.

Daily badges priced at $9 will also be required, beginning May 23.

Belmar offers free access to its 1.2-mile beachfront for children age 15 and under, as well as for active-duty military members and their dependents, Gold Star family members (parents or legal guardians of Armed Forces members who died while serving) and military veterans. Proper military identification is required upon daily entry to the beach when it officially opens for the season.

Badges are required for admission to Belmar’s beaches from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, from May 23 through Labor Day, September 7.
