BELMAR/LAKE COMO, NJ — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for most of Central Jersey, including the Jersey Shore, until 1:30 p.m. today.
According to the National Weather Service, these dangerous storms can produce 80 mph wind gusts and penny-size hail. As a result, flying debris can be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Expect considerable damage to roofs, windows and vehicles, and extensive tree damage and power outages are likely, it reported.
