BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Get a sneak peek of the Berkeley Heights Public Library's new space at 29 Park Avenue.
"While finishing touches are still being completed, we wanted to share a preview of the new BHPL," said the Berkeley Heights Public Library Board. The photos show sections of the Children's Room, Young Adult space, and the main library areas including desks, chairs, periodical nook, and shelving. Stay tuned for video tours from the BHPL staff.
TAPinto recently toured the space that is nearing completion. The library has officially entered the 21st century with a focus on human interaction while still offering the ability to engage in quiet, traditional library study. This welcoming space invites you to enjoy your time along with fellow book-lovers -- and will prove to be the new meeting hub for children, students and adults alike.
The children's section that is separated by a wall of windows is bright and welcoming. Children can find a nook to literally curl up and enjoy their books. The young adult section is anchored with a large screen television with seating for movie viewings or possibly video games -- and charging stations everywhere -- so you can keep your device right with you while it's charging.
The library is also equipped with ample workspace that includes private meeting rooms as well as study spaces separated by partitions.
Everyone at the BHPL is looking forward to the day when the public can use this wonderful space in person. In the meantime, the library is open for curbside pickup and dropoff. If you place a hold for books or DVDs, you will be alerted when your items are ready for pickup.
Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday 9:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. by appointment (call 908-464-9333, x 140). The building is still closed to the public, so please call when you arrive and a staff member will bring your bag of library items to you.
