BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Senior Citizens of Berkeley Heights Club were host to The Bridgewater Roxies last week at their weekly meeting at Mount Carmel Hall in Berkeley Heights.
The Roxies are a group of senior performers that participate in classes and rehearsals three days a week and perform at schools and senior centers throughout the area.
The senior group, dressed in hip hop swag, opened with "Hip Hop Grannies" -- an energetic number choreographed with synchronized modern moves.
Next, the performers [in full costume change] came out and dazzled the crowd to Broadway's 'All That Jazz.'
Romana Rademacher, chairwoman of the Celebration Committee for the Senior Citizens Club of Berkeley Heights, was responsible for bringing the Roxies to the club. In addition to scheduling the events, Rademacher is part of the club's chorus and line dancing group that performs at many events throughout the year.
This group promotes staying active and invites the seniors to line dance after their weekly Tuesday Seniors Club meetings. The line dancing creates comradery, exercise and fun one step at a time while adding "life to their years!"
