BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Young fishing enthusiasts of all levels couldn't wait for Horseshoe Pond to be stocked once again with hundreds of fish for the annual Berkeley Heights PBA #144 Fishing Derby held last Saturday.

A Berkeley Heights tradition that was started by the Berkeley Heights Police Benevolent Association (PBA). Each year, the pond is stocked with more than 200 fish including trout, enabling boys and girls age 15 and younger the chance to reel in fish and fun.

The PBA supplies bait and extra poles and are available to assist the kids and teach them how to fish.  There was no fee to participate and no previous fishing experience was necessary.

The fishing derby is a great tradition in Berkeley Heights and definitely says spring is here.
