Auditions for Summit Playhouse's Production of 'Violet; Set for Feb. 2, 4

SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Playhouse will hold auditions for its upcoming production of the musical "Violet" on February 2 and 4.  Rehearsals will begin in late February and the performances will take place in May. Audition times are February 2, from 7 - 10 p.m., and February 4, from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Winner of the Drama Critics' Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical when it premiered off-Broadway and then on to a Tony Award-nominated Broadway debut in 2014, "Violet" features show-stopping anthems ranging from American-roots to country, blues, and gospel with a score from Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Shrek, Fun Home) and book by the acclaimed Brian Crawley.

Audition participants are asked to prepare 16-32 bars of a Broadway song, or a song in one of the styles of the show (country, blues, or a light rock/ballad). An accompanist will be provided, with those auditioning to bring sheet music or, if necessary, an audio file with music only (no vocals). Sides will be provided at the auditions.
