BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Community members were invited to Autumn Lake Healthcare at Berkeley Heights to join in the celebration of life during National Skilled Nursing Care Week, formerly known as National Nursing Home Week from May 13-18, 2018.
The week kicked off with a special adopt a grandma day in honor of Mother's Day. Several citizens popped in to visit with residents bringing gifts, but more importantly to spend time talking, engaging and sharing special moments with the residents. Other events included an ice cream social, casino event with slot machines and black jack, a staff appreciation luncheon and a pizza party.
Fan favorite entertainer Bob Marino followed Wednesday's staff appreciation luncheon with a festive roaring twenties twist. Mayor Bob Woodruff stopped by for a special visit and spoke compassionately of his understanding of caring for loved ones, having lost his mother just a few years ago after a long stay in a nursing home.
The residents should all know they are in a great community with people who care and have a great staff loving them daily, said Woodruff.
Autumn Lake Healthcare at Berkeley Heights regularly engages their residents with the community through hosting events such as Community Bingo, Martin Luther King event, the new annual Easter Egg Hunt, and residents attend the summer concerts in the park.
