The New Providence Education foundation (NPEF) creates successful partnerships between the New Providence, NJ school community and the community at large, including residents, alumni, and businesses to provide for and enhance the educational experiences of their students.

The members of the New Providence Education Foundation (NPEF) and their supporters raise and distribute money for the schools each and every year. These grants are teacher-initiated, help supplement existing programs, and provide for new and innovative efforts, many of which would not otherwise be funded.

Due to the community and local business generosity, over the past year, the NPEF was able to award grants totaling $70,348.50, which benefited all of the schools in the New Providence school district. Since its inception in 2004, the NPEF has raised over $700,000 to support their teachers, students, and the entire school district. This could not have been achieved without the hard work of the volunteers who donate their time to the foundation, and the generous financial support from corporate sponsors, many localbusinesses and families. Their success is dependent upon this support.

If you are a local business and would like to become an annual sponsor, please visit the website at http://npedfoundation.org, click on “Sponsor” and then on “Become a Sponsor”.  There are various sponsorship levels available with benefits at each level.  If you are an individual and would like to donate or volunteer, please visit the website at http://npedfoundation.org and click on the “Donate” tab.  If you have questions regarding becoming a sponsor, please contact the NPEF at m_matsikoudis@yahoo.com or at 908-656-0999.

The NPEF would like to thank all of their Corporate sponsors for 2016:

Parting Advice from Four Decades on the Front Lines of Local News

In February 1978 I walked into the office of The Rahway News-Record and Clark Patriot to begin what I thought was to be a short-term job stepping stone.

Instead, it turned out to be a nearly 40-year odyssey in local journalism—including the last eight—overwhelmingly great—years with The Alternative Press (TapInto.Net).

I have decided it is time to spend more time in ...
