BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Berkeley Heights 11U Red travel baseball team defeated Branchburg in the quarterfinals of the league championship, 10-8, behind a 15-hit attack and strong pitching on Sunday at Sansone Field in Berkeley Heights. 
After a slow start defensively in the first two innings and a grand-slam by the Branchburg clean-up hitter, the boys trailed 8-0 despite excellent pitching by Matt Wallen
Berkeley Heights held Branchburg scoreless through the rest of the game as they chipped away at the lead and scored six runs in the fifth inning against Branchburg's relief pitcher, [who hit the grand slam in the first inning]. 
Branchburg mounted a bases loaded rally in the top of the sixth, but pitcher Brian Kramer and the defense closed the door. 
Berkeley Heights plays their semi-final round this week.
