BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - As a direct response to the safety concerns expressed by residents, parents, school and township officials, Berkeley Heights, with the approval of the Union County Board of Elections, has made the following changes in where residents will vote.

“The changes will enhance safety and security in our schools by reducing the number of polling locations where students, teachers and staff are located”. This was a team effort said Board of Education President Doug Reinstein adding, “By partnering with our elected officials, Township Clerk Ana Minkoff, and the Union County Board of Elections, we took these important security measures.”

The polling location changes are summarized as follows:

Residents who vote at Governor Livingston High School, Rescue Squad, Fire Station, Woodruff School, and Runnells Hospital will continue to vote at those locations.

Residents who vote at Town Hall will now vote at the adjacent Community Center. Parking is as before.

Residents who vote at Columbia Middle School will now vote at the Community Center, next to Town Hall.

Those who vote at Mountain Park School will now vote at the Community Center next to Town Hall.

Residents who vote at Mary Kay McMillian School will now vote at the Fire House.

Town Council Vice President Jeanne Kingsley said,  “The safety of children is our utmost priority.  Working collectively, the Township, Board of Education and the County found a way to eliminate several schools as polling locations or adjust voting booth locations within school buildings to prevent access to children and staff, without creating a major inconvenience to our voters.”

Residents with a new polling location can expect to receive a postcard from the County with the new polling location address 2-3 weeks prior to the primary, which is June 6, 2017. In addition, the locations will be posted on the township website www.berkeleyheightstwpnj.gov.

Residents may refer to the list of township streets and their respective districts by going to The Union County Website.

Senior Citizen bus services on Election Day will continue.  All polling locations will have clear signage regarding parking and building entrances.  Anyone who has questions or needs assistance, may contact the Town Clerk’s office at 908-464-2700.

And Over Here is the Dining Hall 2

My very first job in admissions was while I was still an undergraduate myself as a tour guide.  Very early on they indoctrinated us with some tricks of the trade.  It’s a dining hall, not a cafeteria.  A residence hall, not a dorm.  If you have to divulge some negative bit of information, sandwich it between two positives.  There were instructions for glossing over ...

Women Have Special Financial Needs That Advisors Overlook
