Berkeley Heights library board member and pharmacy owner, Gladys Smith, passed away at 85 at the Berkeley Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
Gladys was born in Plainfield, N.J., to the late John and Felicia (Yorlano) Finelli and resided there until moving to Berkeley Heights 58 years ago. She was an active member of the Berkeley Heights Public Library Board, holding many different positions on the board throughout her years of volunteering. Gladys was the co-owner, along with her husband, William, of Smith Pharmacy in Berkeley Heights for many years before retiring in 1984. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, William; her loving children, William Smith Jr. of Metuchen, N.J.; Laura Stickles and her husband, Todd, of Tucson, Ariz.; Felicia Smith-Indyk and her fiance, Andy Fulda, of Raritan, N.J., and Stephanie Dunlop and her husband, Steven, of Vernon, N.J.; her cherished grandchildren, Stephen, Elise, Theresa, Steven, Jeffrey, Susannah, Jessica, Amanda, and Joseph, and great-granddaughter, Grace; and her dear sisters, Rosemary and Jeanne Finelli.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are by Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J.
