Berkeley Heights ornaments are back!
Township resident Lucinda Hayes, this year’s winner of the Downtown Beautification Committee’s (DBC) ornament design contest, has created a beautiful image of the Municipal Building for the 2017 commemorative ornament. The cost of each ornament is $10.
Ornaments are currently available for purchase at Berkeley Hardware and Halls Garden Center and Florist. On December 2, the DBC will sell 2017 ornaments at Santa’s Arrival at Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lucinda Hayes will be available to sign the ornaments. The sale will continue at the Tree Lighting and Winter Walk beginning at 5:30 pm on December 2.
Julie Lloyd, Chair of the DBC, said, “Last year, Berkeley Heights residents showed their holiday spirit and town pride by snapping up approximately 500 ornaments depicting the Berkeley Heights train station. We expect this year’s commemorative ornaments to sell out fast.”
The Municipal Building has served as the center of Berkeley Heights government for more than 70 years, when the population was less than a third of what it is today, and is now slated for replacement.
All proceeds from the sale of ornaments will support the efforts and projects of the DBC, including downtown streetscape improvements, plantings, banners, and signage.
