BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Police Capt. Robert Deitch, the department's Public Information Officer, released the following report of police activities in the township.
Residential Burglary: On Wednesday, April 19, at 11:37 a.m., patrol and detectives were dispatched to the report of a residential burglary on North Road that occurred while the homeowner was away between March 30 and April 19.
Police determined the unknown actor(s) forced entry to the home by prying the front door. Officers also observed pry marks on a rear sliding door. Bedrooms inside the home were ransacked and items were taken.

Illegal Dumping Complaint: On Wednesday, April 19, at 4:19 p.m., patrol responded to the Berkeley Swim Club at 200 Hamilton Ave to take a complaint for illegal dumping of refuse in their dumpsters. Patrol has been alerted to monitor this area for violations.
Theft: On Friday, April 21, at 11:08 a.m., Ptl. Donald Maxwell responded to Runnell’s Hospital, at 40 Watchung Way, to take a report of the theft of property from a patient’s room. The victim reports that a purse containing jewelry and other items valued at $970 was taken from her nightstand.
Theft: On Friday, April 21, at 2:16 p.m., Ptl. Donald Maxwell responded to Stop & Shop, at 404 Springfield Ave. to take a report of the theft of $200 from an employee’s purse.
