BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Berkeley Heights Police Department's patrol and detectives investigate 12 motor vehicle burglaries that occurred during the overnight hours of Sept. 3 - 4.
The common theme for each of the vehicles entered was that they were not locked after being parked.
The incidents occurred on Rutgers Ave, Columbia Ave, Harwood Dr, Nancy Pl, and Princeton Ave.
Detectives are currently reviewing video from one residence that shows a thin white male entering one of the victim’s vehicles.
Residents are urged to report all suspicious persons and activity to the police department.
Residents are also reminded to lock their vehicles when they are parked and unoccupied, to remove any valuable property that can be easily viewed from outside the vehicle. It is also recommended that outside lighting and/or motion detectors be used to deter thefts by illuminating driveways where vehicles are parked.
