BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Residential Clean-up program will take place this spring, according to the following schedule:

Section 5 - May 08 to May 12

Section 1 - May 15 to May 19

Section 2 -May 22 to May 26

No pick-up for the week of May 29 to June 2

Section 3 - June 05 to June 09

Section 4 - June 12 to June 16

Items that can be put out for pickup include but are not limited to:

Appliances; Books; Cabinets; Car Rims and off rim tires; Clothing; Couches; Doors; Refrigerators; Fence (cut to 4 ft); Fence post (cut, only wood); Furniture; Garden Tools; Mattresses; Paneling (cut to 4ft or less); Wire Fence (rolled); Rugs; Screens; Sinks; Storm Doors; Storm Windows; Stoves; Toilets and Toys.

All acceptable materials must be placed at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on the first clean up day scheduled for a section, but not more than two days in advance. The contractor will cover each street ONLY ONCE. Therefore, it is very important that materials for pick up are at the curb for collection on the first day for each section. Small, loose items will be picked up only if suitably placed in a wood, metal, or other substantial container and the weight of the container and contents do not exceed 50 pounds.

All containers with debris in them will be picked up and disposed of by the scavenger unless clearly marked "RETURN CONTAINER". By state law, doors on cabinets, appliances, and refrigerators must be removed as a safety precaution. Boards, swings, monkey bars and similar items must be dismantled and cut to maximum of (4) feet in length. Equipment with or containers of, gasoline, solvents, lacquer, acids, alkalis, etc. should not be put out for collection. Please report any unauthorized scavenging or scattering of debris to the Police Department at 464-1111. Please report to the Police Department any unauthorized dropping off of material.
