BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — The Town Council will host its first regular meeting of 2021 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19 through the online platform zoom.

The major item on the night’s agenda is the appointment of a new police chief.

A resolution authorizing the appointment will be up for a vote by the governing body. No name has been released by the Town Council.

Additionally, the council will acknowledge retiring police chief John DiPasquale with a proclamation honoring his service to Berkeley Heights.

The governing body will also give their first town council reports of 2021, after the council elected Councilwoman Jeanne Kingsley and Councilman Manuel Couto to Council President and Vice President respectively.

The Jan.19 meeting also features a conference session dealing with the Environmental Commission and two new ordinances up for introduction.
