BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The League of Women Voters and the Berkeley Heights Communications Committee are co-sponsoring a Candidates Forum for Berkeley Heights Township Council. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 13 at the Columbia Middle School Cafetorium. The program will be taped for viewing on GLTV34 and FIOS 41.

There are five Candidates running for two seats: Peter Bavoso (Republican), Manuel Couto (Republican), Edmund Tom Maciejewski (Libertarian) , Stephen Yellen (Democrat) and Jill Zatta (Democrat).

The program will consist of two parts.  Part One is where journalists from TAPinto will ask questions based on topics suggested and agreed upon by the Candidates.  Part Two is where the audience members ask questions (written on cards) to the Candidates.

The Candidates also responded to the Leagues request to participate in Vote411.org. This is a national initiative launched in 2006.  It is a "one-stop-shop" for election related materials.  It provides non-partisan information to the public on national, state, county and local races and ballot issues.   An important component of Vote411.org is that it allows the Candidates to share the information they think is important for voters to know while answering questions pertinent to the position. If the public goes to Vote411.org and enters his/her address all the races for which that voter can vote will be before them including the responses of the Candidates who participated in the program.
