After nine months of preparation, Boy Scout Troop 368 sent out two Crews that headed out west to New Mexico this past July for a two week mountain backpack adventure. These two backpacking crews made up of up of 9 Scouts and 3 Adults headed to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. At Philmont they went on a 12 day backpack trip in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains.

En route to New Mexico the crews stopped in Colorado Springs, Colorado where they toured the U.S. Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, took a cog rail ride up Pikes Peak and white water rafted down the Arkansas River.

On July 16, the crews took a four hour bus ride south to Philmont Scout Ranch. Philmont is a 217,000 square mile property owned and operated by the National Boy Scouts of America.

The crews backpacked for 79 miles in 12 days. Crew members carried 40 pound backpacks with all the food, water and gear they needed. Every few days, the crews stopped at program camps to participate in adventure activities. Some of the program camps were: Search/Rescue, Fly Fishing, Homesteading, Rock Climbing, Black Powder Shooting, Western Lore, Blacksmithing, Horseback riding and Gold Panning. The Scouts used a map and compass to find campsites, trails, food commissaries and program areas.

On the July adventure was: Crew 1: Eric Whyte (Crew Chief), Ryan Donohue (Crew Chaplain), Pranav Katti, Daniel Lee, Adrian Medeiros, Adam Modrowsky, Jay Morgan, Daniel Sullivan, Rick Jurgens (Lead Advisor), Nagaraj Katti (Advisor) and Jason Pfund (Advisor). Crew 2: Johnny Friedlander (Crew Chief), Owen Tansey (Crew Chaplain), Matt Buthe, Akshai Chundru, Michael Cusmano, Colin Lerch, Kieraj Mumick, Peng Yang, Daniel Zetterstrom, Bhaskar Chundru (Lead Advisor), Joe Rodgers (Advisor) and Inderpal Mumick (Advisor).
