WATCHUNG, NJ - For the second time in three years, Berkeley Heights Boy Scout Troop 68 won the Patriots Path Boy Scout Council Klondike Derby that was held in the Watchung Reservation.
The scouts are required to pull a sled to various stations throughout the reservation and demonstrate their efficiency in outdoor skills such as wilderness survival, fire building, first aid, tomahawk throwing, outdoor cooking, lashing and knot tying and compass and map reading.
The scouts are judged on timing and the mastery of these skills. Troop 68 beat 17 other scout sleds to take home the trophy. The Troop also entered a sled in the senior division and finished fourth out of 15 sleds.
