The Cadets of the Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad (BHVRS) are collecting donations to help families as well as animal family members affected by Hurricane Sandy. Canned meals including canned fruit, vegetables, soup, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, baby food are being collected in addition to canned pet foods, new packages of underwear and socks, diapers, work boots, cleaning supplies including gloves and heavy duty garbage bags, tools, plastic bins for storage, camp cots, and air mattresses. Donations will be made to the Community FoodBank of NJ (http://www.njfoodbank.org/), St Hubert’s Animal Welfare Shelter (http://www.sthuberts.org/sandyneeds) and to the Highlands, NJ shore area through http://helpjersey.com.
Collection bins are located at the BH Rescue Squad Building, BH Kings and Stop & Shop (pet food only) Supermarkets, BH EMO, Barkly Heights Pet Spa, Pet Supplies Plus, New Providence A&P and Gymboree in Westfield.

The BHVRS is staffed 100% by volunteers, ages 16 and up. Emergency medical services are provided by the Squad 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. All services are provided free of charge. We are funded entirely through private donations. We do not receive funds from the Township of Berkeley Heights or any other government agency. Interested in becoming a member?
