BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Berkeley Swim Club is in full swing with a fun-packed summer for all of their members to enjoy.
The summer kicked off with a "fantastic" Memorial Day weekend barbecue and Fourth of July picnic as well as the gentlemen's Texas Hold-um Night and Ladies Night, as well as three "Thirsty Thursday" Happy Hours and Raft Nights for the kids.
New to the summer calendar this year was the Family Camp Out, when members pitched their tents at the pool and slept under the stars. Everyone watched a movie on the big screen and roasted marshmallows over the camp fire. For many of the youngest BSC members, it was the first time they had slept in a tent and moms and dads appreciated the fenced in grounds and bathrooms close by. The Family Camp out will be back again soon by popular demand.
Many of the lifeguards returned for their third or fourth year. "With that kind of leadership, the new guards are learning from the best," said a club board member. She added, "Returning manager John Mahon and new manager Tony Knuth have the pool looking great and are always on hand to make sure things are running smoothly."
The Berkeley Barracudas swim team had a great 2016 season under the direction of Coach Al Ledgin and Assistant Coaches Matt Zarrelli and Indiana Curtis. Without any graduating seniors this year, the coaches are optimistic for next season.
Berkeley Swim Club is offering a limited number of August Memberships. For information email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
