The scouting family of Boy Scout Troop 368 is gearing up to celebrate fifty years of scouting adventures in Berkeley Heights in 2011.
The Troop is planning an Alumni Reunion and Scoutmaster Recognition Dinner to be held January 8, 2011 at Pantagis Renaissance in Scotch Plains, NJ. The evening will serve to rekindle old friendships and honor the former Scoutmasters who have helped to bring the Troop to the prominence at which it stands today. The troop’s former scoutmasters include: John Frysinger (1961-68), Ken Brooks (1968-70), Rod King (1970-72), Thomas Bruening (1972-84), Lee Timmerman (1984-89), Ken Good (1989-91), Bob Dunne (1991-92), Edward Delnero (1992-93), Manny Perez (1993-96), Annette Robina (1996-98), Jason Karl (1998-2004) and Rick Jurgens (2004- present).
Troops 368 was first chartered in Berkeley Heights in 1961, as a member of the Watchung Area Council, and over the past 50 years has seen hundreds of Scouts pass through its program and learn the ideals of Scouting. The troop boasts a group of proud alumni that include 80 Eagle Scouts, many of whom are still involved in Scouting today.
The troop is seeking all alumni, parents and friends to attend the dinner in January. Tickets are $65 and include the buffet dinner, open bar, music and awards. Please visit the troop website (www.bhtroop368.com) for more information regarding the dinner and for details on how to purchase tickets.
