STANHOPE, NJ - Sophomore Matt Richel’s lone goal of the game meant all the difference, as it sent Gov. Livingston to a 9-8 comeback win over Lenape Valley in nonconference boys lacrosse action Saturday.
The Highlanders (2-1) trailed 6-3 at the half and 8-4 with about six minutes left in regulation, but rallied to force overtime behind the game tying goal by junior Kyle Wahlers .
“It was a great team win and the boys showed tremendous toughness and resilience," said head coach Chet Parlavecchio. "I am very proud of how they dealt with adversity."
Will Nicholson had three goals, Jon Wong chipped in two and Andrew Cahill and Cole Wahlers each added one for GL. Marvin Steller had six recorded saves in goal.
Next, GL will travel to Passaic Valley on Monday, April 17 with a 4 p.m. start.
