BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Not only does the township have a Community Forum on Facebook, now it has its own Facebook page, thanks to the efforts of the Communication's Committee.

As of Thursday night, Dec. 17, there were only 64 "Likes" on it, but it hasn't been publicized -- until now. This is the "Official" page for the township and there areas for videos, photos and other posts. It remains to be seen how it will be used, but it's there to be checked out.

Speaking of videos, two Governor Livingston High School students, Bernie Green, a senior, and Peter Illis, a junior, video-taped the Dec. 15 meeting of the Township Committee.

Both are audio visual students at the high school and this was a first try at making the video and getting it online.  It hasn't been posted on the township's website

Don't forget to visit the website to sign up for Swift911, the newest emergency alert system for residents. This is separate and distinct from the Police Department's Code Red emergency notification system.

Swift911 will notify residents of power outages, traffic conditions, broken water mains and road closings, among other things. The information is on the website  - just follow instructions.
