Thirty-three students filled the New Providence Recreation Center on Friday, October 8th to attend a Red Cross Babysitting class to learn key on-the-job skills including:

  • Supervising children and infants
  • Performing basic child-care skills such as diapering and feeding
  • Choosing safe, age-appropriate games and toys
  • Handling bedtime and disciplinary issues
  • Indentifying safety hazards and preventing injuries
  • Caring for common injuries and emergencies
  • Communicating effectively with parents

Students receive materials that are useful both during the course and on the job.  Upcoming classes will be held at the Summit chapter house, 695 Springfield Avenue, Summit and Knowledge Points Learning Center, 186 Columbia Turnpike, Florham Park:

Saturday, December 4 from 9am – 3:30pm in Summit
