BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - On Oct. 26, NJ State Assembly member Nancy Munoz and Berkeley Heights Council member Tom Pirone discuss Union County property taxes, the possibility that Berkeley Heights will vote YES to secede from Union to Morris County as ballot question 3 on Nov. 5, and next steps for the State Legislature.

Discussion details included: Union County budget review by the state department of community affairs division of local government services, and how the Union County board of taxation can distribute the County's budget in proportion to respective municipal equalized valuations they set.

That unfairly enabled Union County to raise property taxes by an average of 8 percent in Berkeley Heights, Mountainside, and Summit while lowering the taxes in other towns.
