JAMESBURG, NJ - Governor Livingston Girls and Boys Cross Country teams competed at the Thompson Park Class Meet on Saturday, September 22 in Jamesburg.
Runners in this meet were grouped according to class year and gender. All participating sophomores, juniors, and seniors ran a distance of 5,000 meters, while all freshmen ran a distance of 2.5 miles.
Victoria Vanriele won the junior girls with a time of 19:17.50. The GL junior girls team placed seventh overall. Mackenzie Lloyd placed 26th for the junior girls team with a time of 22:39.48.
In other girls races of the day, senior Katelyn Quinn placed 19th and was the first for the Highlanders to cross the finish line with a time of 21:38.56, followed by senior Evelyn Doskoch in 22nd place with a time of 21:53.33.
Sophomore Caroline Mondelli finished fifth in the sophomore girls race with a time of 21:20.43.
On the boys side, GL’s top finisher of the day was Alex Aranas, who placed 8th among the junior boys with a time of 17:27.48. Mathew Sternheim placed 30th with a time of 18:43.22.
Senior Lorenzo Pagdanganan, who placed 25th overall, clocked in at 18:30.60.
Matthew Saia finished 23rd for the sophomore boys race with a time of 19:08.81.
Christopher Marinko crossed the finished line first among the freshman Highlander boys, with a time of 14:15.64 placing sixth.
Highlanders are back in action at a quad meet on Tuesday, September 25 at 4 p.m. at Warinanco Park in Roselle, when the Highlanders take on teams from Benedictine Academy, Jonathan Dayton, and Union.
