BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - A team of athletes from CrossFit 908 out of Berkeley Heights is competing in the Regional CrossFit Games in Canton, MA for a three day competition on May 30 - June 1. The Regional competition is the second phase of a three stage journey to find the fittest athletes in the world.

The local athletes competing on the CrossFit 908 Regional Team are: Kevin Guidicipietro, Bridget Beck, Kevin Johns, Christina Romagnano, Rick Pinero, Emmy Simpkins, Tim Caroll [owner of CrossFit 908] and Erin Carroll.

The athletes began their journey in March training from the CrossFit 908 facility on Summit Avenue in Berkeley Heights. Approximately  300,000 athletes worldwide register for the CrossFit Open competition that consists of a five week program involving different scheduled workouts. The personal results are recorded and judged. The top athletes from the Open in each of the 17 regions around the world qualify for the Regional CrossFit Games Competition.

At each CrossFit Games, the athletes engage in a series of challenges unknown to them until right before the competition. A key element to a fair test of fitness is the unknown and unknowable according to the CrossFit Games website. Athletes cannot train for what they do not know.

CrossFit 908 team currently stands in 21st place after three of eight events completed.  To follow the team's results visit games.crossfit.com

The season culminates in the 2014 Reebok CrossFit Games in July. At the Games, thousands of participants will be whittled down to around 100 of the fittest men and women in the world.
