Denis Toft of Berkeley Heights and Chair of Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi’s (CSG) Environmental Group, has been appointed as a member of and environmental lead for the Executive Committee of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
A business advocacy organization, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce supports legislation, regulation and initiatives that will lead to economic growth, job creation and success throughout the state.
In his new position, Toft will monitor and provide guidance on environmental issues affecting businesses in New Jersey. He will continue to serve on the Chamber’s Board of Directors, of which he joined in January of 2015.
“It is an honor to be appointed to the Chamber’s Executive Committee,” Toft said. “I look forward to leveraging my nearly 40 years of practice in environmental law for the benefit of New Jersey, its businesses and its people.”
As a nationally-renowned environmental lawyer, Toft is mainly involved with regulatory counseling, environmental due diligence, permitting, enforcement and environmental litigation, development/redevelopment and environmental insurance.
Throughout the state, Toft serves in a number of leadership roles, including Fellow to the American College of Environmental Lawyers and American Bar Foundation, Chair of the New Jersey Brownfields and Contaminated Site Remediation Task Force, Member of the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Board of Trustees, Board Member with The Nature Conservancy’s New Jersey Chapter and Board Member with NAOIP’s New Jersey Chapter.
