A third party in our government seems like a good idea, however if one decides to compete with Republicans and Democrats, the third party, whatever it may be, will eventually end up just as corrupt as the other two. The only way we can solve the problems in the country is to find a way to break down the two parties and not have any at all.
George Washington said it himself in his farewell address, warning that having political parties would “…open the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.” Political figures need to realize that Washington was right. Most citizens vote for the candidate who belongs to their own political party first and foremost, and not for the ideas these politicians have. Politicians all want to achieve the same thing right now, and that is finding a solution to the country’s declining economy. Why should it matter if they are a Republican or a Democrat, or even a third party member?
The solution would be to simply abolish all political parties. Though it may be a drastic measure, the nation needs a united government. The only way to truly unify the country’s government is by getting rid of political parties altogether, not by adding new ones.
