The Industry-Business Institute at Union County College offers any size business or non-profit organization the opportunity to use grant funding to provide training in basic skills and/or management workshops for current employee. IBI lends their mobile computer lab (up to 20 laptop computers) to employers who host these programs at their place of business.
The topics for training include: MS Office Suite Applications (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Windows) and Customer Service Skills, Verbal and Written Communications for Business, Time Management, Problem Solving, and Team Building.
English as a Second Language and Spanish for the Workplace Classes are also funded under this program. Requirements for participation are simple. Organizations must have a group of 15 or more for an on-site class, provide FEIN number, and agree that those registered will attend and class size requirements will be met (to avoid penalty). Online registration is simple, scheduling is flexible, and only employers with more than 250 employees must pay their workers while they are attending class.
This training opportunity is available through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development to the NJ Community College Consortium.
