NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - On Sunday, February 7, Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence will offer two jazz eucharistic services, one at 8:30 a.m. and the other at 11 a.m.
The jazz band will consist of world-class musicians; including Max Morden, the assistant conductor of The Gramercy Brass Orchestra, who will play the trumpet; John Girvin, Minister of Music at Faith Lutheran, who plays great Jelly Roll Morton style piano; Nick Scheuble, a highly respected jazz drummer and percussionist with expertise in early jazz, be-bop and Afro-Cuban music; Nick’s daughter, Leonieke Scheuble, an organist, who was named the 2015 Hot House Best Up and Coming Young Artist; Mark Gross, an alto saxophonist, who is a two-time Grammy Award winner with the Dave Holland Big Band; Steve Davis a trombonist, who leads his own group and is well known in the contemporary jazz world and Tim Givens, a free lance bass player of New York City, who also plays be-bop cello.
Preaching at both services will be Rev. Jane McCready, pastor of Faith Lutheran.
Faith conducts an open communion table. All visitors, who are baptized members of the Christian Church, are welcome to the Lord's Table.
