February Programs at Chatham Senior Center

Senior Services of the Chathams announces February programs.  The Senior Center is located at 58 Meyersville Rd., Chatham.  Call 973.635.4565 for more information.

 
TECH SUPPORT FOR SENIORS – Monday, Feb. 13, 3 - 4pm.  For assistance with your iPhone, iPad, laptop, etc.  Call Center at 973.635.4565 beginning Mon., Feb. 6 to schedule a 1-on-1 appt. with a Chatham High School student volunteer. Participants do not need to be Chatham residents.

NUTRITION SERIES – Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 12:45pm.  Topic is “Heart-healthy Foods for Valentine’s Day.” With Jenn Luster, registered dietician from Chatham ShopRite.

FREE TAX AID – Thursdays, 9:30am – 2pm, Feb. 16 – Apr. 13. Trained AARP volunteers will complete tax returns and submit them electronically.  Will also do tenant rebate and property tax rebate forms. Participants do not need to be Chatham residents or have an AARP membership.  Bus available for Chatham residents only. 

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING – Thurs., Feb. 16, 11:30am – 1pm.  Provided by Fellowship Senior Living, Basking Ridge, NJ.  Open to the public.  Call Center at 973.635.4565 for more information. 

FICTION BOOK  Club - Tues., Feb 21 at Noon.  "The Summer Before the War" by Helen Simonson.  New members welcome.

NONFICTION BOOK GROUP - Friday, Feb. 24, at 11am.  “White Trash,” by Nancy Isenberg. All welcome to attend. Senior bus available for transport for Chatham residents. Call Center at 973.635.4565. 

SOCIAL DANCING - Tuesdays until Feb. 14 at 1 – 3:00pm.  Class will move to Fridays at 1:00 beginning Feb. 24.  $30 for 6-week session or $7 per class.  Instructors Frank Pagano and Ramona Rademacher will lead participants with or without a partner in “ballroom” dances.  All levels.  Participants do not need to be Chatham residents.

WATERCOLOR WORKSHOPS – Thurs. 10am – 12pm or 12:45 – 2:45pm, session Jan. 12 – Feb. 16, 2017.  Next session runs Mar. 2 – Apr. 6. With award-winning watercolorist Ed Schuh.  $50/6-class session. $60 for under age 60. Participants do not need to be Chatham residents.

KATI’S YOGA – Tues. 10 – 11am.  Exercises and stretches with attention to effective breathing, for all levels of ability.  $45/6-week session; $9/class. Instructor: Kati Walker. Open to non-Chatham residents.  Bus service available to Chatham residents only. 

QI GONG/TAI CHI – Tues. & Thurs. 11am – 12pm.  Helps with balance, muscle control and strength with contributing to an overall feeling of well-being and stress release.  All levels. $65/10 classes;  $40/5 classes; $9/per class. Instructor: Cesar Godoy.  Participants do not need to be Chatham residents. Bus service for Chatham residents only. 

REFLECTIONS – Tuesdays at 2pm – 3:15pm.  Women’s friendship and support group discusses issues that concern mature women.  New members always welcome!  Participants do not need to be Chatham residents. 

MEN’S DISCUSSION GROUP OF CURRENT EVENTS Fridays at 10:30am. Participants have found this to be a good venue for informal discussion on timely topics as well as a sharing of their past experiences. Participants do not need to be Chatham residents. Our Senior Bus is available for Chatham residents only.  

MEDITATION SESSIONS – Fridays at 11am-12pm.  $5/session. For lasting changes to mind, body and soul. Cesar Godoy, facilitator.
