Union County, NJ--The Union County Board of Freeholders announced today that FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Plainfield so that residents can apply for disaster assistance in person. The address is 400 E. Front Street.

Thirty FEMA DRCs are now open seven days a week. Hours today until Thanksgiving are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for the Bay Head DRC, which is observing shorter hours while their curfew remains in effect. All DRCs will be closed Thanksgiving Day and will reopen Friday, Nov. 23, with new hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Plainfield center is the second to open in Union County. The other is in Springfield at the Chisholm Community Center at 100 South Springfield Avenue. Any of these centers can be used by any New Jersey resident.
